A Record of Proven Leadership

For more than 25 years, I've dedicated my career to public education—as a teacher, principal, university instructor, leadership coach, executive recruiter of educational leaders, and now an eight-year member of the Hermosa Beach City School District Board of Education.

​

Since first joining the Board in 2017, I've had the privilege of working alongside fellow Board members, district leadership, teachers, parents, HBEF, HVPTO, the City of Hermosa Beach, and countless community partners to strengthen one of California's highest-performing public school districts.

​

I'm proud of what we've accomplished together.

Together, we've:

  • Passed Measure HV, securing $28.7 million to modernize our schools for future generations.

  • Successfully completed the new Hermosa View and Hermosa Vista schools on time and on budget.

  • Strengthened English Language Arts and science through research-based curriculum and evidence-based instruction.

  • Expanded counseling, wellness, and student support services.

  • Restored full-day kindergarten and expanded before- and after-school enrichment opportunities.

  • Increased STEM, arts, intervention, and personalized learning programs to support every student's success.

Great schools are built with the community—not simply for the community.

  • Strengthened partnerships with HBEF, HVPTO, the City of Hermosa Beach, teachers, and community organizations.

  • Continued investing in schools that strengthen neighborhoods, attract families, and help protect property values.

One of the Board's most important responsibilities is preparing today while planning for tomorrow.

Together, we've:

  • Recruited and supported two exceptional superintendents.

  • Developed the district's comprehensive Three-Year Strategic Plan, providing a clear roadmap for the future.

  • Maintained strong fiscal stewardship while investing wisely in students and schools.

  • Continued to make thoughtful decisions that keep Hermosa Beach among California's premier public school districts.

I believe thoughtful governance isn't about making headlines.

It's about making decisions that leave a community stronger than you found it.

Looking Ahead

While we've accomplished a great deal together, our work continues.

My priorities for the next four years include:

  • Continuing academic excellence through innovation and evidence-based instruction.

  • Successfully implementing Measure HV with transparency and fiscal responsibility.

  • Supporting exceptional teachers, principals, and district leadership.

  • Expanding student wellness, safety, and enrichment opportunities.

  • Preparing every student with the skills they need to thrive in a changing world.

  • Continuing to listen, collaborate, and partner with our community every step of the way.​
